Twelve Short Months

On this day last year I peed on a stick.

It was positive.
I was in shock. I was excited. I was disbelieving. I was terrified.

How much can change in 12 short months.

In my first trimester I learnt that sickness can come on in less than a second. That you can be so hungry that nothing satisfies it. That you can be so tired you fall asleep as soon as you get home and miss dinner only to wake starving in the night. That you can pee every 15 minutes all day and still have wee left over for samples.

In my first trimester I drank a lot of fresh lemon and ginger. I ate a lot of crunchy salty things such as wraps from a popular high street fast food chain. I also ate a lot of digestive biscuits. I spent one week thinking girl and then thought boy referring to Pip as 'he'.

I also spent two weeks fearing for my tiny growing baby after being exposed to a potentially very dangerous infection at work. Those two weeks were the scariest of my life as I feared the worst and spent the time at home away from work. Luckily it was found I was immune to the infection historically so was not risking my babies life or health to return to work.
I found a birth group on Facebook and met lots of lovely ladies.
This time last year I knew none of the above.

All I had was a positive test stick and a tiny Pip in my belly.

    1. You guys are nearing the point of baby being out longer than in! It is still sinking in that I was pregnant and did deliver a baby! Such a life changing event that it takes some adjusting.
