Breakfast with Heinz

We were lucky enough to be sent some lovely Heinz breakfast goodies for L to try when we started weaning.

Our hamper contained a great variety of breakfast goodies

Breakfast Biscotti
Creamy Oat Porridge ready made pots and oat cereal to mix with water
Banana and Apple muesli pots
Very Berry Porridge pots

Today I am going to talk about the Banana and Apple Museli pots and the Creamy Oat Porridge Ceral both of which are suitable from 4 months.

The pots are a great size, not too big for a novice eater and easy to hold as the grown up doing the feeding. They come with a "Goodness Locked In" promise, promising that each pot contains vitamins and minerals essential for babies growth and healthy development. This is important to me and when buying baby food which is prepacked knowing there is additional goodness in the form of fortification appeals to me. They come with both a peal off film and plastic lid. I have kept the pots to fill with purée and freeze for L, very convenient.

We are doing a mix of BLW and purée feeding with L now she is six months. She loves to feed herself and enjoyed this muesli on loaded spoons to self feed. She ate the whole pot in one sitting which is pretty good going for a little lady who has only been eating a few weeks.

L had no issues with the consistency and swallowed this without issue. The idea of this range is that it makes breakfast easy and doable even on the go. I agree that this product would do that. You can have them cold or warm them up. They are easy to chuck in the changing bag along with some spoons to serve when out and about. You might need to supplement this pot with something else for a baby with a big breakfast appetite. They come in a range of flavours and it is great to be able to feed my baby a variety of breakfast tastes.

The Creamy Oat Porridge cereal is really easy to use. You simply mix a spoon of the porridge with previously boiled water. This made it easy to make in the morning with the left over water from my first cup of tea. You can make up as much as you need using the 1:3 ratio. L now has 3 spoons of porridge and some of it mixed with fruit purée.

This product says it is suitable from 4 months but I would avoid it if there are milk allergies in your family as it is made with dried milk. The benefit of this use if milk being the additional fortified vitamins this product contains, more essential goodness.

L enjoys both the ready made pots and the freshly made porridge at breakfast time. We are just starting our weaning journey and I will be looking at the other items from my hamper in the coming weeks on #weaningwednesday
