Poorly Parent

There are no sick days, no supply and no other options when you are a parent who is poorly.

I have finally succumbed to the cold everyone else, including L, caught while we were on holiday. It has waited until I relaxed post moved. It waited until J was back at work.

I am not good when ill, I indulge myself in sitting on the sofa, snuggling in warm jumpers and eating food which is not good for the body but good for the soul.

All of this is hard with a baby and it is only going to get harder as she grows or when I get something worse than a run of the mill cold!

Today I did the thing every one tells you to do with a baby and the thing I never did when she was small. I slept when L slept. In the early days I used her naps to rest, eat, drink tea and talk to many friends via social media. I never slept.

Today it has done me the world of good to do it. We napped together in our big bed. All snuggled together. It was lush. Even if it did take L some persuading to actually go to sleep!

I haven't done an ill supermarket run for chocolate but I have had a beautiful nap with my baby girl.

  1. This was me at the end of last week. Luckily saturday was my worsed day so my husband looked after the baby while I rested and only brought her to me when she needed a feed. I too am dreading catching anything worse this winter.

    1. I hope you feel better soon. On days like this I am so greatful for my partner. He came home and cooked for us and did the washing up so I could have an early night . Fingers crossed the next bug is kind to us both.
