Morkus Family Home

Two weeks of packing chaos.

One day of heavy lifting removal men.

And we were out.

But we are sad to be leaving behind J and I's first home together. Our first home away from our family homes.

We moved in together 3 years ago. Painted the whole thing in a weekend. We lived with blow up furniture until we owned a sofa and a bed. We filled it with more alcohol than I thought possible to own.

We filled it with friends and laughter.

Most importantly. We made our daughter there. She grew inside me there. I laboured there. We brought her home from hospital to that tiny flat.

I cried when it was empty. And cry now thinking about how very happy we were in our bargin flat in a prime leafy green SE London postcode.

Now I am filled with excitement of what we will do with our new home.

A family home. Our first family home.

It has started as a blank canvas. An empty shell ready to be filled with the memories, firsts and laughter of our growing family and much loved friends.

L's room is our first mission. It is dark and dated and needs to be made ready for my baby girl. Pinterest has been hit and I have more ideas than the small room can contain! Elephants and yellow will feature.

And the rest of the home? Only time will tell.

But. We are in.

    1. Thank you.

As we were leaving J and I were wondering who would come in next and if they would be as happy as we have been there. Each home has a history and we were so blessed to be part of that flats history. If only walls could talk!

I think that is one of the most exciting things. That this home is starting as a family home. Exciting times.

  5. Congratulations on your new home :) Moving is always such an emotional thing. I always do just what you did - take photos of the empty house to remember how it was - the "before", and then when it's done, the "after". I remember when we left our first tiny apartment where my eldest was born. I t was so sad. The end of an era. And the beginning of a new one. I am sure you'll be happy in your new home, just as much as you were in your old one :)
