Preparing for a babies arrival is always an exciting time, it can also be fraught with indecision or doubt as you start to approach the wonderful parenting journey!
Having done it once before I had hoped that this time I will doubt less and know more. Three months in and I am not so sure. I have my essentials list, we have lots already on the essentials list, we have until October so there is no real rush, but, I am a planner and I like a list. And already I am thinking I have lots to do.

Twelve Short Months: what I wish I had known then
We arrived home with a three day old baby. I was still crippled with pain and discomfort from the cesarean. L was feeding lots but very well. My milk hadn't come in yet.
We were in the eye of the storm. That quiet bit when you think danger has passed but in fact you're still in the middle of the drama and should be preparing for another direct hit.
Father's Day passed in a happy mood of cuddles and feeding and the slight discomfort of milk coming in. I was on the the pain killers and thought the increasing pain was par for the course. After a feast of, much missed while pregnant, sushi, I attempted to go to bed with L around 8pm. She was by my side of the bed for easy night feeding access.

Word of the Week: Family
I've spent the week down in Suffolk with my Mum and Dad and extended family.
It's been a long week away from J and I've missed him terribly but L has loved seeing all her relatives and being spoiled by indulgent Nana and Papa. I've also had some r&r in the form of afternoon tea and a spa morning.

Me and Mine: February
It was the first beautifully sunny day in weeks, after all the rain, after all the gloom after all the days stuck in side.
We were certainly not the only people to be making the most of the sunshine on this day. And Lloyd Park was full to bursting! This is a park in which J spent many a day when he was growing up, this was the first time he has taken me and we will certainly be going back.
So here is a massive photo dump of our day out. Check out the cool swing so that mum and dad can join in the fun, or siblings obviously but I can not be the only adult who is jealous of a child on the swings.

The Week That Was Spent Watching and Recording
I have spent the week with my camera.
It is not a good love story, there are frustrations and cross words and a lack of understanding. Neither side are properly listening to the other. The results of this are plain to see, may a rejected photograph with very few giving results I am happy with.

Twelve Short Months: Slapped Cheek and Second Looks
I arrived back at work after my booking in appointment with the midwife to be told that a child in my class had something called slapped cheek. I didn't know what it was. The infectious disease information at school said to inform your midwife if you came into contact with it. I duly called her back only to be told not to worry.
An hour later and more research on mine and the schools part and it was found to actually be a bit of a worry. The NHS Choices website has a list of complications and time frames. I was 10 weeks pregnant. This was on the border of the risky time for baby, a really risky time. Possibly the most devastating of things can happen, and if not that then other very close monitoring is needed for a potentially dangerous side affects for baby.

Magic Moments: Sniffles and cuddles
L is poorly. She has a cold. She has a temperature, is sneezing and miserable and none of this is magic.
But this is.

Going Places
She went through a frustrating time trying to work out what to do once she was on her front, but now, now she is going places. She is getting where she wants to be. In her own baby way.

Free Books with Booktrust
Is there anything more magic than free books?
Not in my humble opinion.
Bookstart packs are given to all babies and nursery age children in the UK by the charity Booktrust. Booktrust are committed to helping inspire young readers as well as helping parents to help their children.
We picked up out first pack last weekend at our local library, or if you are lucky your health visitor will bring your Bookstart pack to you!

Not just a baby
When J and I got married last August we saw it as the start of a new family. And we wanted to add our own addition to this family some one who was part of each of us combined. So we needed a baby!

Magic Moments Yet to Come
Last week during the blog hop I read a blog about wishing on stars. It got me thinking about all the things we have yet to show L and all the things which will be her firsts. First fireworks, first Christmas, first foods and first laughs.
